Welcome to our virtual classroom where we offer 100 classes each year ranging from history and music to art and science. Our classes are for personal enrichment and are about 1-1/2 hours long.
Classes are conducted via Zoom by specialists in a variety of fields, many of whom are professors or retired professors.
Dr. Luciano N. Cruz examines the difference between voluntary and forced migration, and the underlying societal and global causes for it.He also explains the process of resettlement vs. repatriation. While some migrants are pushed from their homelands by economic, political, social, or physical insecurities, others elect to immigrate. What both groups have in common is that they left their homes for a better life elsewhere.Dr. Cruz lectures at San Diego State University and at the University of California, Riverside. Aug. 11 (Wed) 1:30 p.m.
The Continuing Education Center at Rancho Bernardo is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 1978. For our first 25 years we were part of San Diego State University's Extended Studies Department. In 2003, we became a free-standing, non-profit organization offering 100 classes a year for personal enrichment.
CEC is a non-sectarian and apolitical organization. We offer a platform for the exchange of ideas and do not endorse the views of those who speak in our classes.
Our classes are taught by university professors, retired professors, and experts in various fields.
As with most non-profit organizations, about two-thirds of our operating funds are derived from the generosity of donors. We can't do it without you. Thanks.
Annual memberships are available for $30 for one person and $50 for a family. Sustaining memberships include free classes for the year and cost $200 for one person and $250 for a family.
